Welcome to Prisoners of Hope Ministries

Prisoners of Hope Ministries, Inc., is a designated Global University Center for Evangelism and Discipleship charged with serving the prisons and jails throughout the States of Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. The Learning Center provides correspondence bible study material for men and women incarcerated within state and federal prisons, and counseling and group worship services for men and women incarcerated within and jails in Maricopa County, Arizona.

• Why are we doing it?
The moral fabric of our country is unraveling. Crime is soaring; families are crumbling; men and women are struggling to find hope and direction; children are becoming more violent. Is the answer to be found in harsher punishment and mandatory prison sentences? The percentage of inmates who return again and again to correctional institutions proves that our system of punishment does not work (Recidivism of Prisoners Released in 30 States in 2005: Patterns from 2005 to 2010). Jesus is the answer. Only through changed hearts can lives be changed!

• Who are we?
Prisoners of Hope is an Arizona nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. The Board of Directors includes pastors and laymen committed to “changed lives through changed hearts.” The name of the organization comes from Zechariah 9:11-12.

“…..because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, O Prisoners of Hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you!”

• Tell me more. . .
Prisoners of Hope is a certified Regional Learning Center of Global University, a correspondence bible study program of the Assemblies of God, Springfield, Missouri. Thirty-six (36) courses in Christian doctrine and discipleship are offered free of charge to any inmate who requests them—in both English and Spanish

• What can you do?

  • Your prayer support is vital. God moves through the spirit-filled prayers of the believer.
  • Every financial gift of $10.00 will provide support for one course of study for one inmate; a gift of $360.00 will provide the entire series of studies for a student.
  • Many inmates need personal encouragement and mentoring from mature Christian men and women willing to give of their time and wisdom by ‘pen pal’ correspondence and/or help on the outside.
